Business case
The company wanted to try out a different approach to talent development and decided to enroll selected employees to the leadership and mentoring program. The company wanted to give its leaders who have been in their roles for several years an opportunity to learn 1:1 from external mentors. To the Leadership program participants, we also offered leadership-focused workshops to combine group learning with a personal approach.
Mentoring strategy
Tipsport enrolled 23 employees in the Mentoring program and Leadership program. First, we discussed the career and leadership challenges of the mentees and helped them define their SMART goals. Based on those goals we looked for the right mentors. We matched all mentees for six months with their mentors and recommended meeting every two weeks. This way the participants had a chance to spend up to 12 hours of mentoring with their mentor. The participants of the Leadership program had also 4 two-hour workshops on leadership topics included in the program. The topics were: Solution focused leadership, Establishing a feedback culture, Time management & Work-life balance, and Conflict management: Difficult conversations. At the beginning of the program, we made sure that everyone knew what to expect from mentoring and ran a “How to be a good mentee” workshop for the group. We tracked their progress over time and collected feedback from the mentees after each session, and at the 3-month and 6-month mark.
Impact
Based on the collected feedback and measured metrics, mentees were overall happy with their mentors (98% satisfaction). They've learned new things they can apply to their role, they feel more productive, and they feel more like authentic leaders. More significant improvements were found in areas such as active listening, giving constructive feedback to subordinates, delegating work to others, and leadership skills in general. Mentees' mentoring focus was primarily on: work-life balance, effective team leadership, and management skills. The goals mentees set at the beginning of the program were achieved by 74% at the end of their journey.
What does the client say?
We wanted to give our leaders and managers the possibility for both professional and personal growth. Our aim was to implement a long-term educational program focused on improvement of our managers’ soft skills, and once we saw what Femme Palette offers, we knew we had found the corresponding way of doing that. The main purpose of the program was for our leaders to clarify their professional goals and get inspiration for their managerial roles from other professionals from different companies and industries. We really appreciate the cooperation with Femme Palette, their proactive approach and their willingness to solve all our ad hoc requirements. Their reports gave us a great overall picture of the impact the program has had on our company's everyday reality.

It's essential to have good chemistry with the mentor. If you have that (and I was lucky enough I had it), it can be an interesting developmental experience. I learned a lot about myself in a very non-forced way, I started to look at things a little more from a distance, in context. I believe that I understand my role and the roles of my colleagues better and this experience will be a daily help in my work.
