Gabriela Borutová has over 10 years of experience in technology. She is a Principal Program Manager-Technical at Gen, where she manages complex global projects and connects strategy with execution to deliver real business results. She focuses on efficient delivery of web projects and on scaling and automating processes using AI. Outside of Gen, she co-founded the educational platform NFT Insights and mentors at Femme Palette.
I was invited to become a mentor, and I saw it as a great opportunity to connect with other women in tech and support each other’s growth. It also pushed me to take mentoring to another level. During COVID, in my previous role, I helped build a program that brought women across the company together to share knowledge, from personal branding and financial literacy to coding and well-being. I’m very proud of that initiative because it helped many people across the organization.
I support mentees with strategic planning for both their programs and personal goals. I also help them build their personal brand, find their purpose, and gain the confidence to show their skills and potential. Many talented women already know what they want, but self-doubt can hold them back. I help them overcome it and move forward. Lastly, I help them to manage operations around complex web projects.
I’ve learned that our upbringing as women strongly shapes how we see ourselves and how we handle challenges. This is true across all generations-> from Boomers to Gen Z. At the same time, I see positive change, as more women are actively working on their mindset and not letting it define them. I’ve also learned a lot about different industries, and lastly how important it is to value time and set clear priorities.
What I value most is the opportunity to support women across various industries, not just in tech. I enjoy identifying the common patterns we all face—whether it’s "translating" our value to stakeholders or finding a healthy balance between a corporate career and personal projects. Being a mentor allows me to help others build the "blueprints" for their own success.
I’ve realized that professional growth is often less about learning new technical skills and more about being heard and encouraged. I’ve learned that a mentor’s role is to provide the structure and system that turns that inner doubt into proven competence.
Lead with integrity, openness, and create a truly safe space for your mentees. Don’t just give advice; look for the deeper patterns beneath their questions. Your goal is to help them stop "firefighting" their daily tasks and start building a career that is sustainable, organized, and meaningful.
