In this interview, we meet Michaela Krajíčková, a project consultant at Lasvit overseeing custom glass and lighting installations across European markets. A law graduate from Charles University in Prague, Michaela spent seven years in legal practice before making a bold pivot into international business, first in Singapore and now back in Prague. Her story is one of courage, reinvention, and the realization that career growth is rarely a straight line. Here, she shares how mentorship helped her navigate a major professional transition, rebuild her identity in a new field, and find a path that combines strategic thinking with the human connection she had always been looking for.

Tell us a bit about yourself. What do you do, and where were you in your career when you joined the Femme Palette mentoring program?

I work in the field of high-end design and architectural glass installations, collaborating with architects and private clients on bespoke projects around the world. My role sits at the intersection of creativity, business strategy, and relationship building - from early design concepts to negotiations and final delivery.

When I joined the Femme Palette mentoring program, I was already working on large international projects, but I was at a point where I wanted to grow beyond execution. I felt ready to step more confidently into a strategic role, strengthen my leadership voice, and define my long-term direction more clearly.

What made you realize you needed a mentor at that moment?

I realized that while I had strong intuition and experience, I was often navigating complex situations (pricing negotiations, client positioning, internal strategy) alone. I wanted perspective.

I didn’t necessarily lack skills; I lacked structured reflection and external insight. I wanted someone who could challenge me, help me see blind spots, and support me in making braver decisions.

What goals or challenges did you hope to work on?

My main goals were:

  • learning new sales skills
  • strengthening my confidence
  • positioning myself as a strategic partner rather than just a supplier
  • communicating my value more clearly
  • and gaining more clarity about my long-term career direction

Which goals did you achieve, and what are you most proud of?

The biggest achievement wasn’t a dramatic external change, it was internal validation. Through mentoring, I realized that my approach to my role was already strategically sound. I wasn’t “behind” or missing something fundamental, I simply needed confirmation and refinement.

I’m most proud of the fact that this clarity translated into real results. The increased confidence contributed directly to my salary raise. It gave me the courage to step forward.

How did mentoring impact your career or confidence?

Mentoring strengthened my self-confidence in a very practical way. It reassured me that I was approaching negotiations, client relationships, and strategic decisions correctly.

That confidence changed how I present myself internally and externally. I speak with more certainty, I take up space more naturally, and I trust my judgment more. This shift was instrumental in my professional growth and advancement.

It also helped me become more organized and structured in my thinking. My mentor showed me how to approach challenges more systematically, which made my work more efficient and my communication clearer.

Could you share a specific breakthrough or meaningful moment from the program?

A meaningful moment was realizing that I didn’t need to reinvent myself to grow. I needed to refine and structure what I was already doing well.

Was there any unexpected benefit from the mentoring experience?

The unexpected benefit was how tangible the outcome became. I initially joined for guidance and reflection.

The combination of validation and increased confidence directly contributed to my salary increase. That was a very rewarding confirmation that personal development truly impacts professional results.

If Michaela's story resonates with you, maybe it is time to write your own. Whether you are navigating a career transition, looking to step into your next level, or simply ready for that external perspective that changes everything, our mentoring program is here for you.

Moving abroad for work? 5 cross-cultural communication mistakes to avoid

You move abroad. You are prepared, capable, and ready to make it work. And then something keeps feeling slightly off. The yes that does not actually mean yes. Working across cultures is not just about adjusting to a new country. It is about realizing that your version of normal was never universal to begin with.
