Have you ever been intrigued by biohacking? In this interview, we spoke to Veronika Allister, Founder and CEO of Systers. Veronika shares why she started Systers, focusing on the unique needs of women often overlooked in the health scene. From dealing with hormones to tackling stress, she also talks more about the common issues that women’s biohacking tackles. We also get into how biohacking can boost performance at work, as well as Veronika's suggestions for must-have food supplements.
I am Veronika Allister, the visionary founder of Systers, book author, psychonaut and longevity health expert. My passion lies in unlocking the incredible potential within female physiology, weaving together the threads of natural principles, science, and technology to transform our everyday lives. I am captivated by the enigma of human consciousness, deeply invested in shaping the future of mankind, and above all, I see myself as an ordinary woman who is simply curious about life itself.
I spent years searching for a project that would take female individuality and uniqueness into account in health care. Yet I didn’t find it anywhere in the world. Biohacking has always been a predominantly male discipline, and its methods did not factor in the female cycle and other specificities of female biology. So, I decided to change it. I started to create and gather know-how that helps women of all generations live a long, fulfilling, and quality life. But more importantly, through Systers we have managed to connect the community of women who cares about their health, wellbeing and longevity.
For years I have been testing food supplements from different suppliers, and thus learned to easily recognise the best products on the market. In addition to the quality of production, we care deeply about an ethical approach to the animal kingdom and our planet, and we must also resonate with the values and general philosophy of the manufacturer. It is precisely thanks to these strict standards that we at Systers have a clear conscience when offering you what really works - for both the female body and the planet. In the early stages of this year, we launched our online educational platform on female biohacking and longevity, complementing our range of supplements. Our commitment to education will take center stage throughout the rest of the year. Additionally, we are hosting two retreats for women, offering a unique experience with diverse techniques, positive vibes, nourishing food and drinks, longevity technology, and more. One retreat is conducted in Czech, and the other in English. Excitingly, this year marks the launch of the Biohacking Festival set amidst nature, in the heart of the Czech Republic, catering to the English-speaking community.
Biohacking is the natural progression beyond a healthy lifestyle. It begins with monitoring and collecting the daily data your body provides. Track your HRV, monitor your sleep patterns, and pay attention to how you feel upon waking and falling asleep. Through self-education on your body's signals, you gain insights to tailor effective strategies and protocols for your overall well-being.
The intricacies of female physiology, operating on distinct cycles, make it more complex than its male counterpart. Consequently, women have unique needs often overlooked in a world primarily designed for male physiology. This oversight can subject women to excessive stress, detrimentally affecting both their mental and physical well-being. Overall, despite the exponential growth in healthcare data, there remains a conspicuous gap, particularly in women's health. These gaps extend across the entire data value chain, from defining women's health to the diagnosis, tracking, and analysis of data. These disparities directly impact global women's health outcomes, introducing blind spots in research, investment decisions, and the prioritization of medical advancements. Notably, certain subsets of women, including those from diverse backgrounds and varying sexual orientations and gender identities, are particularly vulnerable to these gaps and their adverse consequences. Thanks to this gender gap in science, women basically rely on self experimentation, therefore female biohacking.
Every woman is unique, yet there are certain patterns. Frequently, these patterns involve issues related to hormonal health, including various problems with the menstrual cycle, painful menstruation, loss of menstruation, hormonal acne, infertility, and more. Women often seek help in addressing chronic stress, to which they are exposed as they strive to be 'superwomen' and manage everything at once. Lastly, our customers also deal with the microbiome and various digestive issues.
There is some progress, however it is still in a small percentage.
When we optimize our female physiology, we experience improved mental health, reduced mood swings, decreased anxiety and stress, resulting in greater capacity to create meaningful work and be more effective and productive.
The initial recommendation is undoubtedly Real Postbiotics—an upcoming Systers product designed to restore your gut microbiome's properties and optimize its hormones, among other benefits. Our scientific team is set to launch this product in the coming months, introducing the term postbiotics to enhance its recognition. The second suggestion is high-quality omega-3, known for its potential to reduce chronic inflammation and provide various long-term benefits. Finally, consider incorporating magnesium bisglycinate to alleviate muscle tension, completing the trio of recommendations for overall well-being. But supplementation should be personal and individual. We are all different and our wonderful bodies have different needs.
